Dr. Nicholas Baughman grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. He is a Mauldin High School alum and graduated from Clemson University in December of 2011 with a BS in Biological Science. He then received his doctorate of optometry degree while attending The University of Alabama of Birmingham School of Optometry. Dr. Baughman did his externship at the Eye Foundation of Utah where he focused on Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease. He served as the President of the Piedmont Optometric Society in 2018-2019. He enjoys going on medical mission trips; his most recent trip was to Costa Rica. With over 10 years of experience in diagnosing, monitoring and treating eye diseases, Dr. Baughman joined the Pisgah Eye Surgeons team in the summer of 2026.

Outside of eye care, Dr. Baughman loves spending time with his wife Kathryn and their three sons, Luke, Andrew and Parker. They also have two Brittany spaniels, Chipper and Trout. He likes to stay active playing sports like tennis, golf and softball. He is an avid baseball fan, pulling for his Atlanta Braves. During the fall, you will most likely find him cheering on his Clemson Tigers.
